gig on the sofa

GIG ON THE SOFA NIGHT

A fun night was had by all as the Sugarcane sofa made its first stage appearance at The Riverside on Mowbray Street. A hot, balmy night was matched by the performers, as they bashed out a mix of covers and Yorkshire tinged Americana for the swelling crowd. First on, Mark Musgrave managed to raise close on £100 for charity, so well done, Mark. There were casualties however, as ‘Bez Birch’ managed to lose the head off his maraca after one vigorous shake too many whilst ‘cameoing’ with The Penny Lovers. A video of the performance will be available in July on the new look Sugarcane website.

Sugarcane have been delighted to support Bradford based Unique Education in developing a new website for their educational programmes aimed at engaging and inspiring young people from the ages of 8 to 19.   We believe that this is a perfect example of how important it is for organisations in the sector to really demonstrate the breadth of what they are able to offer by getting right one of the most effective communication tools, their website.  To view the site visit www.uniqueeducationuk.co.uk

angel of the north

SOFA ON TOUR CONTINUES...

The Sofa on Tour went up a gear this month visiting Blackpool, the North East and a painful Bawtry paintball fields.  The sofa hit the dodgems and the shooting gallery thanks to the helpful staff on the central pier, took in the grandeur of the Angel of the North and then took on the ‘Predator’. Ignoring the paintball instructors advice of “Don’t be so stupid”, we lined up on the sofa in Bawtry Paintball fields to be faced by 40 bloodthirsty punters and the predator himself. Armed only with a newspaper and basic Rexel folder for defence you can guess what happened next.  Don’t miss the full video action of this massacre on our new website next month but in the meantime see images of our latest outings on our facebook page here...

WHO HAVE YOUR GOT YOUR SIGHTS ON...

One of the most impactful things we can do to help businesses is to help them really focus on who it is they are targeting.  In almost all cases there is more than one target audience but the ability to focus on an audience that has genuine demand for something you know you can provide can really kickstart your business.  It’s no longer good enough to provide what you think is a good idea, you must really understand what it is that customers want.  Take some inspiration from Philips who are now tapping into the needs of men around the home. HORIZONS

What’s in a name! The hardest and most sensitive part of any new venture or re-brand is the naming process. Too instant you may get bored of it, too much of a slow burner, you may never get used to it. A windswept stroll on Scarborough’s North Beach provided the inspiration for York based charity Our Celebration’s new venture ‘Horizons’, which supports people’s recovery from mental ill health with a bespoke programme of care and support. Sugarcane provided the naming, brand and website for the new company that offers a step by step recovery programme from mental ill health, they support people with life, social and professional skills that is unique to that person.
